Free State Department of Education Opens Multiple Vacancies for 2026
The Free State Department of Education has announced several new employment opportunities within its Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) divisions. These vacancies, published under Annexure W, are aimed at strengthening provincial education systems, improving ECD data quality, and supporting the implementation of the eCares system across the province.
Applications officially close on 4 June 2026, and successful candidates will be based mainly in Bloemfontein.
Exciting Opportunities in Education and ICT
Among the advertised positions is the role of Deputy Director: eCares Manager, offering a salary package ranging from R932,292 to over R1 million per annum. The department is looking for professionals with expertise in Information Systems, ICT, Computer Science, or Data Management who can support the provincial rollout and performance of the eCares system.
The successful applicant will oversee system usage, user support, reporting, testing, and stakeholder coordination while ensuring smooth operation of cloud-based education platforms.
Another senior position available is the Deputy Director: Early Childhood Operations Manager. This role focuses on coordinating ECD registration, subsidy implementation, and business process improvements across districts and provincial structures. Candidates with project management experience and strong operational leadership skills are encouraged to apply.
Growing Demand for Data and Reporting Professionals
The department is also recruiting an Assistant Director: ECD Data Quality Assurance Officer. This position targets professionals skilled in data management, monitoring, reporting, and dashboard analysis. Applicants with experience in systems such as EMIS or business intelligence tools like Power BI and Tableau will have an advantage.
The successful candidate will help improve data accuracy, support provincial reporting, and train district users on proper data management practices within the eCares platform.
Support and Administrative Roles Available
Two Senior Administrative Officer posts are also open for candidates interested in ECD data administration and user support. These officials will assist with system rollouts, provide training to ECD centres, and support day-to-day data management processes across districts.
The department highlighted the importance of computer literacy, data analysis, and communication skills for these positions.
Social Worker Vacancies in Bloemfontein
In addition, six Social Worker posts have been advertised within the ECD Directorate. The department is seeking qualified social work professionals with experience in early childhood development, compliance processes, and community engagement.
Responsibilities include supporting ECD registration processes, coordinating site visits, maintaining digital records, and assisting with subsidy and compliance documentation.
