Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Forestry, Natural Science, Environmental Management, or a related qualification recognized by SAQA.
- At least three years of relevant experience in forestry or environmental management.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours when required.
Candidates should also demonstrate knowledge of:
- National Forest Act, 1998
- National Veld and Forest Fire Act
- Environmental legislation affecting forestry

Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will play an important role in protecting South Africa’s forest resources and ensuring compliance with forestry legislation.
Main duties include:
- Implementing and monitoring forestry legislation and fire management policies.
- Reviewing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) affecting forests and protected trees.
- Promoting compliance with forestry and fire protection laws.
- Supporting legal processes related to forestry regulation.
- Conducting training for stakeholders including SAPS, prosecutors, magistrates, and state institutions.
- Managing protected tree licensing databases and forestry compliance systems.
- Assisting Fire Protection Associations and landowners with veld and forest fire compliance.
The role also involves stakeholder engagement, capacity-building initiatives, and providing technical advice on forestry licensing matters.
