🎓 Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A 4-year Bachelor’s degree in GISc (NQF Level 7) or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA
  • At least 6 years of post-qualification experience in GISc
  • Mandatory registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) as a GISc Professional
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Remote sensing and satellite image interpretation
    • Geo-database design and spatial analysis
    • Project and programme management
    • Research and development within GIS environments

A valid driver’s license will be advantageous.

This senior role requires both technical expertise and strategic leadership. The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and manage the institutional GISc function
  • Provide strategic direction for GISc initiatives across the department
  • Oversee spatial data analysis and modelling for policy development
