Department of Human Settlements Vacancies 2026

The South African Department of Human Settlements (DHS) has announced exciting employment opportunities for qualified professionals seeking to advance their careers in public administration and executive support. Available Positions

  1. Parliament and Cabinet Support Officer (Ref No: DOHS/01/2026)

The Department is seeking a skilled Parliament and Cabinet Support Officer to assist with parliamentary and cabinet-related activities affecting the Minister’s portfolio. This position requires an individual with strong policy analysis capabilities and a thorough understanding of government processes.

Location: Pretoria

Salary: R932,292 per annum (Level 11, all-inclusive package)

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor parliamentary and legislative developments relevant to the Minister’s portfolio.
  • Track Cabinet and Executive Council matters impacting departmental functions.
  • Provide efficient parliamentary support services.
  • Coordinate movements between Pretoria and Cape Town offices during parliamentary sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with public service policies and departmental regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
  • Advanced Diploma or Degree in Public Administration, Public Management, or a related field (NQF Level 7).
  • Three to five years of experience at Assistant Director or middle-management level.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of political and parliamentary processes in South Africa.
  • Experience in policy analysis and development.
  • Excellent planning and resource management abilities.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  1. Administrative Support and Co-ordination Officer (Ref No: DOHS/02/2026)

The Department is also recruiting an Administrative Support and Co-ordination Officer to oversee administrative functions within the office of the executive authority.

Location: Pretoria

Salary: R932,292 per annum (Level 11, all-inclusive package)

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage administrative and coordination activities within the executive authority’s office.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on matters related to the executive portfolio.
  • Provide Cabinet and Executive Council support services.
  • Supervise and guide employees.
  • Ensure efficient office operations and coordination processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
  • Advanced Diploma or Degree in Public Administration, Public Management, or a related field (NQF Level 7).
  • Three to five years of experience at Assistant Director or middle-management level.
  • Computer literacy and strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of government and parliamentary processes.
  • Policy analysis and development experience.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and travel when necessary.
