Department of Water and Sanitation Vacancies 2026: Apply Before 22 May

National Project Manager Vacancy in Pretoria

One of the leading opportunities currently available is the National Project Manager position based in Pretoria Head Office. The successful candidate will earn an annual salary package of over R1.2 million.

The department is seeking applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Environmental Management, Project Management, or a related field at NQF Level 7. Candidates must also have at least five years of senior management experience in water services, infrastructure project management, or grant-funded development programmes.

The appointed manager will oversee national water services grant programmes, coordinate infrastructure funding, monitor project implementation, and work closely with municipalities, water boards, and sector stakeholders.

Deputy Project Manager Posts Available in Mpumalanga

Another major opportunity is the Deputy Project Manager: Water Services Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Programmes post in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.

The role offers a salary package exceeding R1.1 million annually and requires applicants to possess a Civil Engineering qualification or postgraduate diploma in Project Management. Experience in infrastructure planning and construction projects is essential.

Successful candidates will support regional water infrastructure projects, monitor implementation targets, coordinate feasibility studies, and assist with grant programme management across provincial operations.

Water Services Strategy and Research Careers

The department is also recruiting for a Deputy Director: Water Services Macro Strategy Research and Evaluation role at Pretoria Head Office.

Applicants should hold qualifications in Public Policy, Social Science, Development Studies, or Public Administration with at least five years of experience in policy development and strategy within the water and sanitation sector.

Responsibilities include conducting research, developing macro strategies, coordinating Socio-Economic Impact Assessment System (SEIAS) reports, and evaluating policy implementation to improve service delivery outcomes.

Corporate Communication Vacancy Open

Creative professionals can apply for the Deputy Director: Corporate Communication vacancy. The department is looking for candidates with qualifications in Graphic Design and managerial experience in communications environments.

The role involves managing media production initiatives, developing multimedia campaigns, overseeing annual reports and corporate publications, and guiding graphic design deliverables for departmental campaigns.

Scientist and Hydrology Opportunities

Qualified hydrologists also have an opportunity to apply for Scientist Production Grade A-C positions in Pretoria.

Entry-Level Survey Officer Jobs

For candidates with Grade 12 qualifications, the department is offering Survey Officer positions at Midmar Dam.

The role includes assisting with field surveys, hydrographic survey operations, equipment maintenance, document preparation, and data collection activities. Previous survey fieldwork experience will be advantageous.
