The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) has announced an exciting employment opportunity for qualified professionals who are passionate about advancing gender equality, women’s empowerment, and social justice in South Africa.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in:
    • Social Sciences,
    • Human Sciences,
    • Development Studies, or
    • Social Work.
  • A valid driver’s licence (not applicable to persons with disabilities).
  • At least three years of supervisory experience in a related field.

  • Strong policy analysis and development skills.
  • Knowledge of gender-related legislation and frameworks.
  • Understanding of women’s empowerment and social justice initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Policy and Legislative Development

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of policies promoting women’s rights and gender equality.
  • Conducting research and gender analysis to support policy recommendations.
  • Identifying gaps in existing legislation and proposing improvements.
  • Preparing reports on policy implementation and programme outcomes.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Managing relationships with government departments, civil society organisations, and provincial stakeholders.
  • Supporting the implementation of the National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide.
  • Maintaining stakeholder databases and ensuring effective communication.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Collecting and analysing programme information.
  • Developing reporting templates and monitoring systems.
  • Coordinating stakeholder reporting and ensuring deadlines are met.

Administrative Support

  • Providing secretariat and logistical support for meetings and engagements.
  • Assisting with general office administration within the unit.
