JICS Opens New Job Opportunities Across South Africa for 2026
The Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) has announced several employment opportunities for 2026, giving South Africans a chance to work within the correctional services oversight sector. Senior Case Officer Vacancy in Centurion
One of the key vacancies advertised is the position of Senior Case Officer: Complaints, based in Centurion. The role falls under the Legal Services – Complaints Unit and offers an annual salary of R413,001.
Applicants must possess a Grade 12 certificate along with a recognised legal qualification such as an LLB or BProc degree on NQF Level 7. Candidates should also have between one and three years of relevant working experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling inmate complaints, maintaining records, liaising with correctional officials and stakeholders, and supervising administrative staff within the complaints unit.
JICS is looking for applicants with strong knowledge of constitutional law, criminal procedure, human rights law, and correctional legislation. Good communication skills, computer literacy, analytical writing ability, and a valid driver’s licence are also required.
Independent Correctional Centre Visitor Posts Available
JICS has also advertised several Independent Correctional Centre Visitor (ICCV) positions on 36-month contracts in correctional centres across the country.
The posts are available in regions including KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.
Successful applicants will earn R89,046 per annum, plus 37% in lieu of benefits.
The ICCV role focuses on monitoring prison conditions, engaging with inmates, investigating complaints, and reporting concerns related to incarceration conditions and human rights issues.
Candidates need a Grade 12 certificate, computer literacy, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently. Applicants must also submit a recommendation or nomination letter from a community organisation that is not older than six months.
Preference will be given to applicants living near the correctional centres where the positions are based.
