Mpumalanga Government Opens Vacancies
The Office of the Premier Mpumalanga has announced two senior executive vacancies aimed at strengthening leadership, governance, and service delivery across the province. Head of Department: Public Works, Roads and Transport

The position carries an all-inclusive annual salary package of R2.35 million, plus an additional 10% allowance applicable to Heads of Department.
Key Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8 recognized by SAQA
- At least 10 years of senior management experience
- Strong leadership, governance, and strategic management capabilities
- Extensive understanding of public infrastructure and transport administration
Candidates with qualifications in the built environment will receive preference.
Main Responsibilities
The appointed executive will be responsible for:
- Leading provincial public works, roads, and transport programmes
- Managing government infrastructure and expanded public works initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with the Public Finance Management Act
- Overseeing financial, human, and operational resources
- Driving strategic service delivery and departmental performance
The role is offered on a five-year contract basis and includes competency assessments and security clearance processes.
Deputy Director-General: Institutional Development Support and Integrity Management
The second vacancy is for a Deputy Director-General responsible for Institutional Development Support and Integrity Management within the Office of the Premier.
This permanent senior management position offers an all-inclusive annual salary package of R1.81 million.
Minimum Requirements
Interested candidates must have:
- An appropriate postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8
- A minimum of eight years’ experience at senior managerial level
- Expertise in governance, strategic leadership, and institutional development
- Strong communication, project management, and people management skills
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Provide strategic leadership to the Institutional Development Support and Integrity Management Branch
- Support governance and administration across provincial departments
- Oversee integrity management, forensic investigations, and security services
- Guide human resource policy development and implementation
- Monitor ICT, communication, legal support, and transformation services
The role also requires competency assessments and security vetting before appointment.
