🎯 Purpose of the Role

The successful candidate will provide strategic, operational, and knowledge leadership to strengthen public sector capacity. The goal is to build a capable, ethical, and developmental state through education, training, and innovation.

🎓 Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in fields such as:
    • Public Administration
    • Economics
    • Political Science
    • Business Administration
  • A Master’s degree or PhD will be an advantage
  • At least 10 years of senior management experience in:
    • Public sector
    • Academia
    • Development institutions

Key Knowledge Areas:

  • South African public administration systems
  • Public sector legislation (e.g. PFMA, Public Service Act)
  • Governance, policy development, and curriculum innovation
  • Digital transformation and education systems

The Director-General will:

  • Ensure high-quality education, training, and development programmes

Additionally, the role includes spearheading initiatives such as:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in public service delivery
  • Professionalisation of the public sector
  • Revenue generation and strategic partnerships
